Infrastructure

During my time in office, with the help of the powerful voice of entrepreneur Jeremy Roberts. I partnered with State Senator Todd Weiler, Glen Mills and ABC4Utah to send water to Jackson, Mississippi during its ongoing water crisis. That experience reinforced for me that infrastructure is not just about roads and pipes. It is about people, safety, and the strength of our communities.

The Jackson Water Crisis Story:

Infrastructure means everything to me, and Clearfield faces unique challenges, particularly with the Freeport Center and its impact on our city. As housing continues to grow, I have taken a leadership role in local water discussions. In my research on multi-family development, I found that Clearfield and many other cities in Utah lack a clear plan to ensure water resiliency as new multi-family projects come online. I strongly recommend that any city planning for multi-family growth adopt the best practices outlined in the University of Miami study on water resilience.

The Study:

In my view right now, we are not funding our roads at a reasonable rate, and as we continue to add growth to the city, we do not have a clear fiscal plan to deal with the traffic impacts that come with it. If we fail to address this now, we risk falling behind in ways that will hurt both residents and businesses.

We must also take a proactive approach to code enforcement. By doing so, we can reduce wildfire risks that threaten our homes and businesses. Preventing these risks is not only about protecting lives and property, it is also about protecting our community from heightened insurance rates that can harm families and local businesses alike.

I believe Clearfield deserves infrastructure solutions that are forward-thinking, resilient, and responsive to the needs of our residents.
