Ballot Initiatives

A Ballot Initiative for Senior Tax Relief

To secure sustainable funding for both Clearfield and our senior population, in 2026 I will be knocking doors for a ballot initiative:

  • Contingent on a Zions Bank study, Clearfield would add a 0.01% to 0.05% sales tax.
  • In exchange, the city would require the county to provide property tax assessment relief for seniors 65 and older based on income levels submitted to the city.
  • Seniors would have their homes assessed at between 0% and 25% of property value, ensuring protection for those on fixed incomes.
  • A portion of the sales tax revenue would also cover administrative costs for managing the program and support the city’s general fund to offset any loss of property tax revenue.

This initiative balances equity for seniors with fiscal responsibility for the city, protecting Clearfield’s long-term financial stability.
